Scottish Names and African Roots: Resources for tracing Afro-Guyanese ancestry

Tracing one’s ancestry is not particularly easy if you are Guyanese: public records are not digitised and are scattered – within and beyond our shores. Dr David Alston, a Scottish historian, shows how it is possible to trace some family groups from the records available. Dr Alston has extensive research about Scottish links to Guyana on his Slaves and Highlanders website.

Additional resources for tracing Afro-Guyanese ancestry will be added to this webpage on the MHT website: https://www.morayhousetrust.com/events/scottish-names-and-african-ancestors-resources-for-tracing-afro-guyanese-ancestry/
