ROUTINE BLOOD TEST SAVED YOUNG DOCTOR’S LIFE

At the age of 20, Nyamekeye Griffith, a medical student back then, did a routine blood test and found out she had kidney disease. Griffith, who is now a doctor, did her kidney transplant six years after her diagnosis.
During an interview with the News Room on Thursday, Griffith, now 27, explained that because of her unexpected, but early diagnosis, she was able to slow the progression of her disease.
She received her transplant in June 2021 and spoke about how she is managing to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and also offered some advice for kidney patients who are on dialysis.
