The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Peace Corps celebrated their 60th anniversaries at a reception held at the residence of the US Ambassador to Guyana Sarah-Ann Lynch. Delivering the feature address was President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who told the organisations that partnerships based on principles and values are imperative for them to achieve their desired goals. USAID’s partnership with Guyana dates back to 1961 while the Peace Corps debuted in Guyana in1966 and returned in 1995 after a five-year hiatus. The U.S. Ambassador, after reminiscing on her own experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer and USAID official, highlighted that the global institutions means a promise of security, prosperity and partnerships.
