NINVALLE LAUDS COACHES AND REFEREEJUDGES FOR GUYANA’S SUCCESS IN AMATEUR BOXING

On Thursday evening, the Guyana Boxing Association held an appreciation dinner for the local boxers who emerged champions of the fifth Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Schoolboys and Junior Championship at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Guyana finished on 23 points, 14 ahead of Bahamas, followed by Trinidad and Tobago in third and St. Lucia in the cellar position in the four-nation championship.

Reflecting on what transpired during the three days, Ninvalle, while lauding the Under-16 boxers for their tenacity, singled out the coaches for their diligence in getting the youngsters in peak condition for the event.

The Director of Sport also used the opportunity to point out that for the first time, a cadre of all local referees and judges officiated at the championship, signaling the progress that has been made in enhancing the competencies of local officials.
