DISCUSSIONS STILL ONGOING ON CHANGING TIME FRAME FOR SCHOOL NATIONALS 1

Technical experts within the realm of Track and Field have viewed the hosting of the marque student-athlete event in Guyana, Nationals, during the November period as far from ideal, mainly down this period being the off-season.
Many Caribbean counterparts, timetable their events for early in the year to align with CARIFTA Games which is normally held over the Easter Weekend.
Questioned by News Room Sport on where a change could be made, representatives from both the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Teachers’ Union indicated, they are still engaging in discussions on whether it would be feasible for Guyana to do such.
Additionally, it was revealed they are open to the idea of rewarding top athletes with scholarships but they would have to develop criteria.
